About Us

John and Allison took over the reins (so to speak) at The Black Horse in September of 2019 after 27 glorious years of the pub being run by Nick and Jane Evans. 

John and Allison have a close, longstanding affinity with the pub; John is reliably informed that he made his first visit here aged only three months old!  The couple live in the village of Clapton-in-Gordano and, as well as owning the pub, would class themselves as regulars and locals!

That lies at the heart of their vision for The Black Horse.  It’s a traditional pub with a vibrant, lively mixture of patrons every one of whom adds something to the character of the place.
